Discussion

The research looked at autism diagnosis rates amongst children in Montreal, Canada from 1987 til 1998 and found:

  • A steady increase in diagnoses of developmental disorders over time
  • Developmental disorders were significantly more common in children exposed to vaccines that did not contain thimerosal then those exposed to vaccines which did contain thimerosal
  • As MMR vaccination rates went down, diagnoses of developmental disorders went up
  • The rate of increase in developmental disorder diagnoses was the same before and after introduction of the two dose MMR vaccine, ruling that out as a problem
